Ripping the Mask Off

Dietary Lies Fueling a Health Crisis

Hey friends,

My wife teases me because I’m almost always walking around with a podcast or YouTube interview in my ears while doing dishes or mopping our floors. And nine times out of ten, it’s something like a lecture on fat cells or an interview on insulin.

I guess dismantling the dietary lies we’ve been spoon-fed (ha, pun intended) for decades is my idea of fun these days?

I’m reminded of that Scooby-Doo meme where Fred rips off the mask of the bad guy and discovers who they really are. The more I learn about metabolic health, the more it feels like we’re ripping the masks off our food and healthcare system. You begin find out who the bad guys are and how sinister this world can be.

Anyways, when you come across truth like the stuff below, it’s really hard to stay quiet (just ask my wife). That’s why I started this newsletter: to share it with the people who want to learn about this stuff but don’t know where to begin.

I’m definitely not a doctor or a dietitian. I’m just a steak-loving dude with a keyboard and a deep conviction that we’ve been deceived in some seriously evil ways.

If you’re here, thanks for showing up. Let me know if you get to enjoy any of the content below!

The interview I never knew I needed. Two of my favorite teachers sit down to discuss how modern eating habits, especially the ones high in carbs, are driving insulin resistance which is responsible for SO many chronic health conditions like type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and infertility. The good news? Many of these conditions can be reversed through a ketogenic, low-carb diet.

🥩 Myths and Facts Regarding Low-Carbohydrate Diets – Nina Teicholz and 18 others

This journal addresses concerns about low-carb or ketogenic diets and their safety and long-term viability. While it’s not a systematic breakdown of low-carb diets, the authors use current peer-reviewed research to show that they are viable options for managing chronic conditions, and push back against the notion that these diets are simple fads.

🤥 The Absolute Biggest Lie You've Been Told About Fats – Dr. Sten Ekberg

There’s a common misconception that calories are directly responsible for weight gain, and while there is a broader truth to this, Dr. Ekberg emphasizes how insulin is ultimately responsible for driving fat storage. He also explains how seed oils promote inflammation while more natural fats like olive oil and butter lend themselves to better metabolic health.
