Starting off with some personal news!
I recently started a side contracting gig with The Carnivore Bar doing Instagram outreach & engagement!
If you’re not familiar with the brand, it’s a high-fat meal replacement bar made of regeneratively-raised, grass-finished beef. Essentially an old Native American pemmican recipe.
I’ve been looking for an opportunity to play a bigger part in this movement and it finally arrived!

Hey friends,
I recently read a post from Calley Means where he talks about a friend who runs a clinic network of 1,000+ MDs. His friend said there is a growing frustration among doctors over their patients constantly asking about the “root cause” of their conditions. Five years ago, no one was asking these questions.
Calley mentions how he sees this as a massive shift happening in healthcare. This shift is forcing us to wrestle with questions like, “are patients right to be asking these types of questions?” and “are doctors correct to be ridiculing patients for taking their health into their own hands?”
Doctors are experts, of course. But that doesn’t mean we can’t challenge their expertise. As medical professionals, they should absolutely welcome the conversation as well.
I simply think this frustration they’re feeling is rooted in their income (and even sometimes identity) being tied to this broken system.
At the end of the day, there is no money nor reward in proper nutrition.
Should we place our trust wholly in doctor’s hands or do we have a right to question and challenge? What do you think?

🌭 Are Nitrates and Nitrites Actually Dangerous? – Dr. Ben Bikman
My take: Like so many other things in the world of metabolic health, we’ve been fed bad information based on correlational data. In this video, Dr. Bikman debunks the common notion that nitrates and nitrites are dangerous or even cause cancer. In fact, they actually create nitric oxide which serves our bodies extremely well in maintaining blood pressure and even increasing sensitivity to insulin. A great video and a ton of information unpacked by Bikman the Great!

💪 Ketones Reprogram Your Liver – Multiple authors
My take: Pretty cool recent study that shows maintaining a state of ketogenesis serves your body beyond just fat burning – it actually serves to protect from other conditions by “reprogramming your liver” as Shawn Baker says below. SO COOL.

🫀 Ketosis: Therapeutic to Heart Failure? – Multiple authors
My take: Ketones are known for being a more efficient and just as sustainable fuel for the brain than glucose. A recent study shows that ketones as a fuel source can improve cell health, reduce inflammation, and support blood flow and energy supply across various diseases. Another reason to go keto! 😉
Ketones are a great fuel for the heart.
As much as I often state that the brain loves ketones (it does, using them readily), the heart may be a close second in its affection for ketones. But in this case, it may be less a matter of preference and more a matter of desperation.

Some of my favorite content from Twitter and Instagram this week:
Glucose feeds cancer.
Otto Warburg discovered this in 1924. Tumors thrive in anaerobic glycolysis: sugar burning without oxygen.
An animal-based diet is metabolic chemotherapy.

When you realise that bread, pasta, fruit, rice, and oatmeal are basically sugar, it is a game-changer for your health.

Men will literally cook meat and eggs the exact same way for years and still get excited about it every time.
